Section 2571. Children's institutions; examination of children on admission

  • 1.  The  administrative officer or person in charge of every institution
      in this state operated for the express purpose of  receiving  or  caring
      for  dependent, neglected or destitute children or juvenile delinquents,
      except hospitals, upon receiving  a  child  therein,  by  commitment  or
      otherwise,  shall,  before  permitting  such child to contact with other
      children, cause inquiry to be made concerning  the  presence  or  recent
      exposure of such child to a communicable disease.
        2.  If,  on the basis of such inquiry, there is reason to suspect that
      such child may be ill or recently exposed  to  a  communicable  disease,
      such  child  shall  not  be permitted to contact other children until so
      authorized by the regular physician of the institution. A record of  the
      results  of all such inquiries and examinations shall be kept on file in
      the institution.
        3. A thorough medical examination shall be performed on  all  children
      either  immediately  prior  to  admission  to the institution or shortly
      thereafter.
