Section 339. Report on gap insurance

  • No later than May first, nineteen
      hundred ninety-six, the superintendent shall furnish to the governor and
      each house of the legislature a report providing an  assessment  of  the
      market  availability  of  gap  insurance,  as  defined and authorized by
      section one thousand one hundred thirteen of this chapter,  which  shall
      contain, but not be limited to, the following:
        (a)  a  list  of  insurers  licensed  to  provide  gap insurance, such
      insurers  that  are  making  this  coverage  available   to   consumers,
      delineated  by  type of gap insurance, including a summarized listing of
      cost comparisons and the market share such  insurers  of  gap  insurance
      represent;
        (b)  a  summary  of any consumer, agent and insurer complaints made to
      the department regarding gap insurance; and
        (c) general recommendations, if appropriate, for further statutory  or
      administrative  changes  designed  to  increase  the availability of gap
      insurance and provide increased consumer protection.
