Section 609. Tuckahoe urban renewal agency

  • A municipal urban renewal agency
      to  be  known as the Tuckahoe urban renewal agency is hereby established
      for the accomplishment of any  or  all  of  the  purposes  specified  in
      articles  fifteen  and fifteen-A of this chapter, and in accordance with
      article eighteen of the constitution of the state of New York. It  shall
      constitute  a  body corporate and politic, be perpetual in duration, and
      shall consist of five members, who shall be appointed by  the  mayor  of
      the  village  of  Tuckahoe. Of the members first appointed, one shall be
      appointed for a period of one year, two for a period of two  years,  and
      two  for  a  period of three years. At the expiration of such terms, the
      terms of office of their successors shall be three years. Not more  than
      three  members  of  the  agency  shall  be members of the same political
      party. Each member shall serve until the appointment  and  qualification
      of  his  successor. Vacancies occurring otherwise than by the expiration
      of term shall be filled by the mayor for the unexpired term.  The  mayor
      and the members of the board of trustees of the village may be appointed
      as  members  of  the urban renewal agency, and their terms as members of
      the agency shall not expire solely by reason of the expiration of  their
      terms  of  office  as mayor or village trustee, respectively.  The mayor
      shall designate the first chairman. The Agency shall have the powers and
      duties now or hereafter conferred by article fifteen-A of  this  chapter
      upon  municipal  renewal  agencies.  It shall be organized in the manner
      prescribed by and subject to the provisions of article fifteen-A of this
      chapter, and  the  agency,  its  members,  officers  and  employees  and
      activities  shall  in all respects be governed by the provisions of such
      article.
