Section 1086. Purpose

  • The purpose of this article is to establish uniform
      procedures for permanency hearings for all children who  are  placed  in
      foster  care  pursuant  to  section  three  hundred fifty-eight-a, three
      hundred  eighty-four  or  three  hundred  eighty-four-a  of  the  social
      services  law  or  pursuant  to  section  one  thousand  twenty-two, one
      thousand twenty-seven, or one thousand fifty-two of this  act;  children
      who are directly placed with a relative pursuant to section one thousand
      seventeen  or  one thousand fifty-five of this act; and children who are
      freed for adoption. It is meant to provide children placed out of  their
      homes  timely  and  effective  judicial review that promotes permanency,
      safety and well-being in their lives.
