Section 170-A. Celebration of Rosa Parks; bus companies

1. For purposes of this section, the terms "bus company" and "bus line" shall have the same meanings as set forth in subdivisions two and three of section two of the transportation law. 2. On February fourth, two thousand eight and every February fourth thereafter, a day of commemoration designated as "Rosa Parks Day" pursuant to section one hundred sixty-eight-a of this article, every bus company operating a bus line in this state may reserve and keep empty one seat on each bus placed in service by such bus company in honor of civil rights activist Rosa Parks. 3. Compliance with the provisions of this section shall be voluntary, and no bus company operating a bus line in this state shall be subject to any liability, either civil or criminal, solely for the failure to comply with the provisions of this section.
