Section 844-A. The New York statewide law enforcement telecommunications committee

  • There shall be established a committee  within  the  division
      which  shall  be  known  as  the  New  York  statewide  law  enforcement
      telecommunications committee (NYSLETC) which shall  establish  standards
      and  guidelines  for  the  use  and  management of law enforcement radio
      frequencies which have  been  assigned  by  the  federal  communications
      commission for statewide use for all law enforcement agencies within the
      state.  The  committee shall be comprised of four representatives of the
      division of state police, four representatives of  the  New  York  state
      association  of  chiefs  of police, four representatives of the New York
      state  sheriffs  association,  two  local  frequency  advisors  of   the
      associated  public  safety  communications,  inc.  representing  federal
      communications  commission  mandated  frequency  coordination  for   the
      northern  and  southern  regions of the state, one representative of the
      New York city police department and two representatives of the  division
      who shall serve in an advisory capacity to the committee. All members of
      the  committee  shall  serve  without compensation for their services as
      such. The division may appear as the representative of the committee  in
      any   application   or  proceeding  before  the  federal  communications
      commission relating to statewide law enforcement radio frequencies which
      have been assigned for statewide use by law  enforcement  agencies.  The
      committee  may recommend to the division for promulgation such rules and
      regulations as may be necessary  to  carry  out  the  purposes  of  this
      section.
