Section 7-126. Ballots; pasters, use of

  • 1. If a certificate of designation
      or nomination to fill a vacancy shall lawfully be filed with  the  board
      or  officer  required  to  furnish  official  ballots,  or  the board of
      elections shall receive from the state board of elections a notification
      of a new designation or nomination to fill a vacancy, after the official
      ballots have been printed, and before the election, the board or officer
      providing  the  official  ballots  shall  prepare  and  furnish  to  the
      inspectors  of  election  in  each  election district affected, adhesive
      pasters  containing  the  name  of  the  new  candidate  designated   or
      nominated, with directions for the proper use thereof.
        2.  Each  paster  shall  be  of  plain  paper of the same color as the
      official ballot to which it is being affixed, printed in plain black ink
      and in the same  kind  of  type  used  in  printing  the  names  of  the
      candidates upon the official ballots, and shall be of a size as large as
      and  no  larger  than the space occupied upon the official ballot by the
      name of the candidate in whose place the candidate named upon the paster
      has been designated or nominated.
        3. Whenever such pasters are provided, the board or officer furnishing
      them shall certify  to  the  inspectors  of  election  in  the  election
      districts  affected  by  the  vacancy  the name of the person originally
      designated or nominated, the name of the person designated  in  the  new
      certificate,  the  title  of  the office or party position for which the
      designation or nomination is made, the name of the  political  party  to
      which  the  committee  making the designation or nomination belongs, and
      shall state the number of pasters furnished, which number shall be equal
      to the number of official ballots furnished for each such district.
        4. The inspectors or clerks shall affix one of such  pasters,  in  the
      proper  place and manner, upon each official ballot before the ballot is
      delivered to the voter.
