Section 621. Interstate cooperation with law enforcement officers and agencies of other states and the federal government

  • 1.  All  law  enforcement  officers  and  agencies of this state and its subdivisions,
      including  the  division  of  criminal  justice  services,  are   hereby
      authorized  to cooperate with agencies of other states and of the United
      States, having similar powers,  to  develop  and  carry  on  a  complete
      interstate, national and international system of criminal identification
      and  investigation, and to obtain and furnish, or to assist in obtaining
      and furnishing, any information from and to a law enforcement officer or
      agency  of  another  jurisdiction  to  assist  in  the  conduct  of   an
      investigation  into  any  criminal  matter  or  for  use  in  a criminal
      prosecution.
        2. Nothing in this section shall be construed to authorize or  empower
      any  law enforcement officer or agency to engage in any activity or type
      of work for which  he  or  it  does  not  otherwise  have  authority  in
      conducting  investigations  or  prosecutions  in  connection with crimes
      alleged to have been committed within this state, but the obtaining  and
      furnishing  of  information  pursuant  to this section shall be deemed a
      part of the regular functions of the officer  or  agency  obtaining  and
      furnishing the same.
